Updated 23 October 2026
XAT 2027 registration is open until 6 December 2026, according to the official XAT website. If you are taking CAT on 29 November, it is easy to leave XAT to the last week. This guide covers the fee, the test-city choices and the form rules from the XAT 2027 Bulletin and the official registration page, so you can finish it in one sitting.
The fee
From the official XAT 2027 registration page and Bulletin:
- XAT registration fee: Rs 2,300
- Candidates applying to XLRI programmes pay an additional Rs 200 for each programme.
- All payments made for XAT and XLRI registration are non-refundable, according to the Bulletin.
The registration page lists separate fees for candidates applying to certain XLRI programmes through GMAT or GRE. If that applies to you, read that section of the page directly.
Choosing test cities
The Bulletin says you can choose up to six preferred test cities in the application form and advises picking a city close to your home. The official website describes XAT as conducted in 100+ test cities across India. Put your most practical city first. On exam day, travel time matters more than the name of the city.
Form rules that matter
The Bulletin and registration page are strict on a few points:
- Email ID and mobile number cannot be changed after registration. Use an address and number you will keep through admissions.
- Names must match your documents. Your name and your parents’ names must match the spelling in your certificates, mark sheets and ID proof. The Bulletin warns that a mismatch may disqualify your application.
- Photo and signature must be uploaded to the stated specifications. The signature appears on your admit card.
- No edits after final submission with payment. You can “Save and Exit” while filling the form, but once you submit with payment, applicant details cannot be edited. Review every tab before the final submit.
Using XAT for other institutes
XAT scores are used by XLRI and by other institutions listed in the Bulletin. The Bulletin explains that you register for XAT on xatonline.in and then follow each institution’s own application procedure. Each institution sets its own weightages, and XLRI has no role in their selection process. Make a list of the institutes you want and check their separate deadlines.
